Yoma 86a – What is Chilul Hashem

In this shiur we analyzed the very important gemara that creates a framework for the definition of what it means to desecrate hashem.  The amoraim give examples about themselves and their own need to be beyond reproach in every possible manner.

We also went on an important tangent in a discussion of what Rashi views as the definition of “talmud.”  For Rashi, the role of “talmud” is to synthesize apparent contradiction between different mishnayot.
